Some Like It Hot

“Some Like It Hot” is a comedy directed by the famous Billy Wilder. Released in 1959, this classic black and white film stars Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis, and Jack Lemmon.
Maybe "nobody's perfect," as one character in this film suggests. But some movies are perfect, and “Some Like It Hot” is one of them. In Chicago, during the Prohibition era, two musicians, Joe and Jerry (Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon), happen to witness the St. Valentine's Day Massacre. In order to escape with their lives from the gang leader Spats Colombo (George Raft), the boys, in drag, join an all-woman band bound for Florida. They compete for the attention of the lead singer, Sugar Kane (Marilyn Monroe). Joe and Jerry’s new feminine identities, Josephine and Daphne, prevent them from acting on their desires. Still, they are determined to win her love and throughout the course of the movie take part in a series of gender-bending ploys complicated by the fact that Osgood Fielding (Joe E. Brown) has fallen in love with Daphne. The plot gets even thicker when Spats Colombo and his gang show up in Florida.

Some say that “Some Like It Hot” is the greatest comedy ever made in Hollywood. With Who am I to argue? This film is filled with clever lines that made me laugh out loud. Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis are quite the duo and Marilyn Monroe is as gorgeous as ever! It is the delightful combination of comedy, action, romance, and suspense that makes this film a true classic.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show

“The Rocky Horror Picture Show” is an erotic, exotic, and slightly psychotic musical comedy directed by Jim Sharman. Released in 1975, this cult classic stars Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, and Barry Bostwick.

In the very opening scene of the movie, a very in-love couple, Janet (Sarandon) and Brad (Bostwick), are attending a wedding of some close friends of theirs. After the wedding, Janet catches the brides’ bouquet and Brad asks her to marry him through the song, “Dammit Janet.” In the very end of the movie, a cabaret style floor show is held with Janet, Brad, Dr. Frank-N-Furter (Curry), and others. The performance is interrupted by Furters’ two assistants, Riff Raff and Magenta, who kill Frank and two others. Janet, Brad, and another are spared and quickly leave the castle just as it takes off into space to return to the planet Transsexual in the galaxy of Transylvania.

Overall, “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” is an absolutely amazing movie. I have seen this movie numerous times and I will continue to watch it. Curry’s fantastic performance as Furter is utterly brilliant from the beginning to the stunning end. His demeanor, costumes, singing, it’s all well fitted to his character and I do not believe that any other actor could have pulled it off. The songs of the movie are fabulous. They take on a life outside of the film which I believe is what has made this film into a cult classic enjoyed by large groups. I know I have found myself dancing to the “Time Warp” a time or two. Lastly, I believe that the movie is a social phenomenon. It has brought a whole new meaning to the phrase “audience participation” with fans putting on their own shows all over the world for the last thirty years! If that does not warrant a viewing I do not know what does.
Iron Man

Robert Downey Jr. plays Tony Stark, a billionaire weapons creator who is as rich as Bruce Wayne and has more intelligence than Peter Parker. Stark is kidnapped and mortally wounded on a trip through Afghanistan. His only escape is constructing a metal suit to fight his way out.
After escaping Starks devotes his life to fighting the very people who use his weapons for evil. He uses the prototype metal man suit he made to engineer a sleeker version, giving us Iron Man.
Robert Downey Jr gives us one of the better super hero performances. It's easy to hold a moviegoers attention in the Iron Man suit. The special effects, gadgets, and eye-popping special effects, can sell themselves. The scenes where he's not wearing the suit is where we need to see the actor shine. Downey does a masterful job with his witty performance as Tony Stark. He's so believable as a billionaire/playboy/egomaniac that I'm not even sure if he's acting.

Even though it took 75% of the movie for the actual suit to be developed, the movie is well worth the watch. Dont forget to stay after the credits for a look at the sequal!

Enchanted

enchanted

Giselle (Amy Adams) lives in a forest dreaming of her one true love. Prince Edward (James Marsden) hears her singing and they fall in love and plan to wed the following morning. His step-mother the queen wants the threat to her crown removed so she pushes Giselle down a well where she enters the "real" world of New York. There, she meets a divorce attorney (Patrick Dempsey) who is about to become engaged and his 6 year old daughter. They fall in love while Giselle waits for Edward to rescue her. After an incident with a poisoned apple and being saved by true love's kiss, Giselle kills the queen who has turned into a dragon in order to save Robert from certain doom. Edward returns to the animated world with Nancy (Robert's girlfriend) and Giselle stays in New York with Robert and they all live happily ever after.

The music by Stephen Schwartz and Alan Menken (in a return to brilliance) is terrific. The way that Giselle infects those around her with her innocent "Princess-esque" demeanor is really at the heart of what makes the movie so great. You cant help but feel all bubbly when the movie is over.

Vantage Point

President Ashton (William Hurt) is attending a global war on terror summit in Spain. Thomas Barnes (Dennis Quaid) and Kent Taylor (Matthew Fox) are two of the Secret Service agents assigned to protect him. This is the first action that Agent Barnes has been in since he took a bullet for President Ashton six-month earlier. We really dont know if Agent Barnes is up to the challenge of protecting the President. Shortly after President Ashton is escorted to the stage in the plaza by the Secret Service, he is immediately shot twice by a rifle from a window and falls to the floor. The crowd is in shock and chaos breaks out all over, especially, when bombs begin to explode. Howard Lewis (Forest Whitaker) is an American video-taping the event to show to his children that he was actually there at this historic event. He believes that he has the picture of the man who shot the President. Agent Barnes sees the tape and has a clue to that person. Several different people witness the event, and only through their eyes do we see the truth behind the assassination attempt.

The movie makes me think of the Six degrees of seperation theory. Watch the movie and you'll see why. Overall, a very good movie, although Dennis Quaid is really getting up there.

The Guardian

The US Coast Guard version of "Top Gun" with a little "An Officer and A Gentleman" thrown in: an aging USCG rescue swimmer's team is killed in a horrific rescue mission. Immediately prior to this terrible event, his wife also announced that she cannot take anymore. His first love is always the rescue mission. This leaves him an obviously emotional wreck. His commender gives him a choice - quit or take a position as an instructor at the USCG training facility in Louisiana. Reluctantly he takes the position. Moving into the school, he immediately increases the 18 week curriculum that routinely fails half of the people that attend. Here he meets a young man with unlimited potential, but with some secret that seems to hold him back as a team player. Delving into his past, links are found that make him a psychic twin to the older man. Thrown into the midst of the story is a romance with a local girl. Rescue missions punctuate the beginning and end of the story with the training sessions the center of the film.

This was a terrific movie about the Coast Guard rescue swimmers and the missions they perform. Kevin Costner does a great job and Ashton Kutcher surprised me in that he was a serious actor in this film. Both deliver powerful performances interacting with each other's character. The demanding physical training, dedication, and personal sacrifice that all Coast Guard rescue swimmers must go through, make all of them heroes to me. They live every day by their motto, "So Others May Live." The Coast Guard doesn't get the same public exposure as other branches of the military, but this film finally gives them the long overdue tribute they deserve. There are only 280 rescue swimmers in the entire Coast Guard. Stay and see the credits because they show actual Coast Guard rescues from Hurricane Katrina. I highly recommend everyone going to see this movie.

PLUS, in the credits, there is an AMAZING song called "Never Let Go" by Bryan Adams, I absolutely love it and hope/think you will too!

Stay Alive

After the brutal death of a friend, a group of friends find themselves in possession of a video-game called "Stay Alive," a blood-curdling true story of a 17th century noblewoman known as the Blood Countess. After playing the game when they know they shouldn't, however, the friends realize that once they die in the game--they die for real. As their numbers begin dropping and as they begin dying in the ways they died in the game, the remaining friends realize they must defeat the Blood Countess or accept their fates.

stay alive

Frankie Muniz and Sophia Bush are the well-knowns in this horror film that make it more enjoyable!
Red Dust

Its a movie about amnesty tirals in South Africa. Basically, for those who committed horrific crimes such as torture and murder, they are tried at an amnesty trial. If they provide full disclosure of their actions and the committee believes their claims to be true with nothing hidden, they cannot be prosecuted for their actions.

Police officer Dirk Hendricks (Bartlett) files an amnesty application for Alex Mpondo (Ejiofor), a member of the South African Parliament who can't remember the torture he once endured as a captive political activist. South African-born attorney Sarah Barcant (Swank), meanwhile, returns to her homeland to represent Mpondo, as well as Steve Sizela, Mpondo's friend who arrested along with him and never heard from again.

Hillary Swank does an amazing job, as does everyone else in the film. It is severly depressing and quite slow, but I found it quite inlightening because I had no idea that such trials had existed.

The Wizard of Oz

When a nasty neighbor tries to have her dog put to sleep, Dorothy takes her dog Toto, to run away. A cyclone appears and carries her to the magical land of Oz. Wishing to return, she begins to travel to the Emerald City where a great wizard lives. On her way she meets a Scarecrow who needs a brain, a Tin Man who wants a heart, and a Cowardly Lion who desperately needs courage. They all hope the Wizard of Oz will help them, before the Wicked Witch of the West catches up with them.

It is a kind of magic that takes my heart to eternity and from there it sees all the world in a very amusing and magical way. This movie will never be forgotten and should be seen by all! Not to mention the lovely song and dance numbers including "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" by Judy Garland.

Se7en

Seven deadly sins. Seven ways to die.

A film about two homicide detectives' desperate hunt for a serial killer who justifies his crimes as absolution for the world's ignorance of the Seven Deadly Sins. The movie takes us from the tortured remains of one victim to the next as the sociopathic "John Doe" sermonizes to Detectives Sommerset and Mills -- one sin at a time. The sin of Gluttony comes first and the murderer's terrible capacity is graphically demonstrated in the dark and subdued tones characteristic of film noir. The seasoned and cultured Sommerset researches the Seven Deadly Sins in an effort to understand the killer's modus operandi while green Detective Mills scoffs at his efforts to get inside the mind of a killer...

Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman star in the movie that will keep you guessing and grossed out till the end, and even later.

Pulp Fiction

Pumpkin and Honey Bunny are two thieves who, while dining at a coffee shop, decide that the best thing to do is to rob it. Vincent and Jules, two hit men working for mob kingpin Marcellus Wallace, are sent to retrieve a very special and very mysterious briefcase for their boss. Vincent later must also show Mrs. Wallace a good time while her husband is out. Butch Coolidge is an aging prizefighter who is being paid to "take a dive", but instead, accidentally kills him opponent, and tries to flee town, but not before getting his dead father's lucky golden watch. These four seemingly unrelated stories are interwoven together in a non-linear fashion.

Directed by Quentin Tarantino, stars Uma Thurman, John Travolta, Samuel L Jackson, Bruce Willis,

JUST WATCH IT! You wont be disappointed!

Want proof? Awards: Won Oscar. Another 43 wins & 39 nominations
Step Up

Fans of DIRTY DANCING and FAME will dig the moves in this tale of a sullen young thug named Tyler (Channing Tatum) who winds up doing community service at the Baltimore High School for the Performing Arts. At first he's just smirking and mopping the floors, but then Nora (Jenna Dewan), a talented dancer and choreographer, loses her partner to a fractured ankle mere weeks before the big showcase, and Tyler steps in as her partner.

At first he doesn't take it too seriously but then again, he's never had a real chance in life. His best friend from the street (Damaine Radcliff) gets jealous and forces Tyler to decide which side of the tracks he thinks he belongs on. Meanwhile, romance heats up between Tyler and Nora, and as far as dramatic steps go, that's all fairly by the numbers, but the performances are strong. (Tatum manages to be charismatic while playing his character like a real high school kid, that is to say, monosyllabically.) The dialogue crackles and the editing is tight, while the big dance climax is, of course, a crowd-pleasing showstopper.

Basically, I liked it, some funny lines and good music, thats a wrap.

Save The Last Dance

Ballet and hip-hop, Black and White, inner city and small town all merge in this gritty, romantic dance drama that has it all "goin' on". SAVE THE LAST DANCE is about two people and two cultures dancing around each other until they can reach some kind of "comfort zone" that allows everyone to thrive. Small town, white, middle-class SARA JOHNSON (Julia Stiles) dreams of devoting her life to ballet and attending school at Julliard until a personal tragedy makes her decide never to dance again. Her mother's death forces her to move to inner city Chicago to live with her club musician dad, ROY (Terry Kinney) and attend an almost all black high school where she struggles to fit in. Sara is befriended by CHENILLE (Kerry Washington) a black, unwed teenage mother who helps her fit in. At first, Sara doesn't like smart and somewhat cocky DEREK (Sean Patrick Thomas) but learns that they both love dance, although his choice is hip-hop. Derek shows her some moves and dancing leads to romancing.

"Save the Last Dance" is a 21st century version of all those cool '70's and '80's dance movies like "Saturday Night Fever", "Dirty Dancing", Urban Cowboy", "Footloose" and "Flashdance". It's great to see this tried and true combination of dance and troubled romance come back to the screen. The added element of inter-racial and inter-cultural conflict only makes the story more interesting.

The Warriors

Urban lawlessness of New York City street gangs is the theme of Walter Hill's violent and influential drama. When a powerful gang leader is shot during a meeting between all of the city's gangs, the blame is pinned on a Brooklyn clan known as the Warriors. Now members of this small bunch face a night of terror, as they try to return to Coney Island with an army of thugs hot on their trail. It's a long subway ride from the Bronx to Brooklyn, and anything can happen!

Starring Dorsey Wright and Brian Tyler, this film can be considered a gripping action/adventure cult film.

The Exorcist

Nobody expected it, nobody believed it, and nobody could stop it. The one hope, the only hope: THE EXORCIST. Based on the 1971 novel by William Peter Blatty, The Exorcist marries three different scenarios into one extraordinary plot. A visiting actress in Washington, D.C., notices dramatic and dangerous changes in the behavior and physical make-up of her 12-year-old daughter. Meanwhile, a young priest at nearby Georgetown University begins to doubt his faith while dealing with his mother's terminal sickness. And, book-ending the story, a frail, elderly priest recognizes the necessity for a show-down with an old demonic enemy.

Made in 1973, this film is very graphic for its time. Although I personally have never actually seen a movie that has truly scared me, this one is pretty darn good. Explore the possibilities before you watch the movie, do research on demons and exorcisms to get your brain thinking in the direction of possibility. That way, when you watch, it will be that more scary.

Alexander

Beginning and ending with Alexander’s death, this story has another set of bookends with the character Ptolemy (Anthony Hopkins), who also provides narration throughout the story. Starting as a young boy, we see Alexander (Connor Paolo) growing up and being taught by his teachers as well as his mother, Olympias (Angelina Jolie). After Alexander (Colin Farrell) grows up, his father Philip (Val Kilmer) dies, and Alexander takes over the kingdom. He leads the people to conquer other kingdoms, until he is finally stopped in India. The story includes many historical facts and details, while also emphasizing some specific interpersonal relationships of Alexander’s. One poignant relationship is with his male friend, Hephaestion (Jared Leto).

Its got beautiful recreations of the Library of Alexandria and the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, vast and bloody battles (effectively gripping but not excessively graphic), and the usual great cast of characters. The "R" rating is due to violence and some sexuality/nudity. The homosexuality depicted in this film is probably what most people have a problem with, that and Colin Firths blonde hair, lol. All in all, an average movie if your looking for entertainment not facts. Id reccomend not watching this one with the parentals due to the homosexuality and one male/female, slightly rough sex scene.

WANNA REQUEST A REVIEW? DO YOU NEED A RECOMENDATION?

This is the place to be! Just leave a comment here telling me what you want and Ill write a review within 2 days!

Need a great date movie, family movie, pick-me-up movie, or even a movie to spice things up in your lovelife, just let me know!

If your a part of myspace Ill even leave you a special comment on your page just for commenting on my website!

Basic Instinct

Michael Douglas stars as Nick Curran, a tough but vulnerable detective. Sharon Stone costars as Catherine Tramell, a cold, calculating, and beautiful novelist with an insatiable sexual appetite. Catherine becomes a prime suspect when her boyfriend is brutally murdered-a crime she had described in her latest novel. Obsessed with cracking the case, Nick descends into San Francisco's forbidden underground where suspicions mount, bodies fall, and he finds himself an instinct more basic than survival.

A sexy, daring movie that is great to watch alone when your feeling like some self-pleasure. It is sure to spark up some romance later on with all the erotic scenes and word-play as well. One of my favorite sexy movies, as I call them.
Lethal Weapon

Martin Riggs (Mel Gibson) is no ordinary cop. He's a Mad Max gone maniacal, a man whose killing expertise and suicidal recklessness make him a Lethal Weapon to anyone he works against. Or with.

Roger Murtaugh (Danny Glover) is an easygoing homicide detective with a loving family, a big house and a pension he doesn't want to lose. Imagine Murtaugh's shock when he learns his new partner is a guy with nothing left to lose: wild eyed, burnt-out Martin Riggs.

Lethal Weapon is the thrill-packed story of two Vietnam-vets-turned-cops who have just one other thing in common: both hate to work with partners. But their partnership becomes the key to survival when a routine murder investigation leads to all-out, take-no-prisoners, martial-arts-and-machine-guns war with an international heroin ring.

Its a pistol-packing, snap-crackling thinking-man's thriller that I just happen to love!

Highlander

He fought his first battle on the Scottish Highlands in 1536. He will fight his greatest battle on the streets of New York City in 1986. His name is Connor MacLeod. He is immortal. Born in the Highlands of Scotland in 1518, Connor Macleod played by Christopher Lambert, is immortal. When he is wounded in battle but does not die, he is banished from his village. He meets another like himself, Ramirez, Sean Connery, who teaches him swordsmanship--the only way to kill another immortal is to take his head--and the ways of the immortals. Modern-day New York is the location of "The Gathering," where Connor and the few remaining immortals must battle to the last for "The Prize." THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!

The soundtrack has some of the best songs recorded by the music group Queen. I do believe it is a very good feature which benefits from deeply emotional characterizations and tight complex story.
Ghost

Patrick Swayze plays a ghost who teams with a psychic (Whoopi Goldberg) to uncover the truth behind his murder and rescue his sweetheart (Demi Moore) from a similar fate.

A touching love story, a bright comedy, an astonishing supernatural tale, and a sleek mystery thriller all at the same time. I also have to mention the famous clay pottery wheel love scene featuring the song "Unchained Melody" by the Righteous Brothers.
Frankenstine

Robert De Niro stars in Mary Shelly's Frankenstein. True to the original, here is the story of a young doctor whose obsession with death leads him to create a life. But his "creature," crafted form the bodies of convicts and the brain of a brilliant scientist, is a hideous mockery of humanity. When the creature realizes he will never be accepted by men, he seeks revenge on Dr. Frankenstein and his family.

Perfectly comparable to the book, an excellent cast and a brillant, visually stunning movie.

Entrapment

When a priceless Rembrandt is stolen in NY, the evidence points to a solitary master thief (Sean Connery), who is about to meet the insurance company's most cunning- and seductive- investigator (Catherine Zeta-Jones). Following a nerve-racking game of cat and mouse, the 2 join forces... or so it seems... to attempt a daring multibillion dollar heist tied to the dawn of the new millennium.

Sexy, daring, and enticing. An excellent movie.
The Dukes Of Hazzard

With the General Lee tanked up for car-crashin action and with more laughs than a dog has fleas, this big-screen version of the long-running TV series is big-time fun. Johnny Knoxville, Seann William Scott, Jessica Simpson, Burt Reynolds, Willie Nelson and more help keep the pedal to the metal for 100-MPH laughs. Stars, comedy, spills and thrills, its got it all, y'all!

Jessica is extremely gorgeous, and the Duke brothers are very hot. Above all else, the General Lee is sexy as hell!

She is literally the polaroid of perfection. She has everything and she'll give it to you in a second. Looks can deceive, she wears her heart on her sleeve. She'll steal you away, but not just for one day. Everyday is an ordinary day. In her world she's an ordinary girl.

Give up yet? Its Clueless!!

Its not easy being the most popular and glamorous girl at Beverly Hills High. Especially when you're the envy of scheming Betties (female babes), persistent Barneys (unattractive guys), and teachers who go postal (freak out) when you turn your homework in late! Yet somehow 15-year old Cher (Alicia Silverstone) keeps it all together while finding time for matchmaking and fashion makeovers. Yet her world begins to unravel when 2 hunks, a stylish new classmate, and her "ex-stepbrother" come in to play. She's...well, CLUELESS.

Hip, sassy comedy that every teen should see. And an excellent mother/daughter movie.

Blazing Saddles

The railroads bound to run right through the sleepy town of Rock Ridge. Land there will be worth a fortune--but the townfold already own their own land. How do you drive them out? Send in the roughest, toughest, meanest, leanest, gang you've got... and appoint a new sheriff you figure will last about 24 hours.

But that's not really the plot, its just the pretext. Once the film gets going, logic is lost in a blizzard of gags, jokes, quips, puns, howlers, growlers, and outrageous assaults upon good taste--or any taste for that matter!

Cleavon Little as the new lawman, Gene Wilder stars as the wacko Waco Kid, Mel Brooks himself as dimwitted politico and madeline Kahn in her Marlene Dietrich sendup that earned an Acadamy Award nomination.

Mel Brooks' comic saga of cowboys and imbeciles.
Airport

Burt Lancaster and Dean Martin head this classic disaster film. On the ground, manager Mel Bakersfeld juggles lover Jean Seberg and wife dana Wynter while coping with a blizzard, aided by mechanic George Kennedy. In the sky, Capt. Vern demarcate must maintain control of a 707 with his pregnant stewardess girlfriend, a sly stowaway, and a bomb-toting maniac aboard.

definitely an all star cast with 2 sequels to follow and the winner of Best Picture at the Acadamy Awards, not to mention 10 other nominations. One to check out at some point in ones life.

Firewall

Its an ordinary day at Landrock Pacific Bank for everyone but expert Jack Stanfield. His wife and children are held hostage at home. Their idnappers have one demand: Jack must heist $100 million from the ultra-secure system he designed. And they'll be watching every move he makes. Never overlook the desperation of a man with everything to lose.

Starring Harrison Ford and Paul Bettany, its a pretty darn good flick with a couple minor holes.

The Producers

Nathan Lane and Mattew Broderick star in the hilariously funny film of the Broadway smash hit. Scheming producer Max Bialystock and his mousy accountant, Leo Bloom discover that under the right circumstances they could make more money by producing a Broadyway flop rather than a with a hit. But what will they do when their sure-t0-0ffend musical becomes a surprise sensation?

Check it out, it includes a sexy song and dance number by Uma Thurman and the hilarious comedy genius Will Ferrell.

The Bodyguard

When a famous pop singer (Houston) receives threatening notes, her manager hires a bodyguard (Costner). The bodyguard takes his job to the extreme because he was once a member of Reagan’s secret service but wasn’t on hand when there was an attack on the president. The bodyguard and the singer develop feelings for each other, and she begins to realize that she may be in more danger than she had originally thought. Never let your guard down and never fall in love.

Its a movie with snarky comebacks, desirable passion, and excellent musical selections. I highly recomend this movie even though I must admit the acting is quite mild.
